John McCarthy, who coined the term in 1995, defines it as "the science and engineering of making intelligent machines."
Major AI researchers and textbooks define this field as "the study and design of intelligent agents".
Of all the topics given, I chose "Artificial Intelligence". Why? Because I'm curious. And curiosity never killed me. It always leads me to knowledge.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Intelligence is best defined as the ability of an individual to adapt his/her behavior to new circumstances. Human intelligence is not a single ability but is rather a composition of abilities like learning, reasoning, problem solving, perception and understanding of language. Since ancient times, people have been thinking of designing machines that will replicate human intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence is a branch of science that enables a computer to tackle complex
tasks and adapt to new situations. It makes the computer perform tasks
that are normally done by humans. In other words, AI allows the computer
to think like humans. It helps machines to make complex judgmental
calls, solve complex problems in a more human like fashion. Problems
that require intelligence and reasoning can now be effectively
accomplished by using computers. Although mainly associated with
computer science, AI is useful for a myriad of applications in different
fields like agriculture, medicine, maths, and biology.

AWESOME EXAMPLES OF AI
- Google Now and Siri can learn your usage pattern, requirements, and preferences and provide you with intelligent recommendation, reminders, and knowledge navigation. These services offered by Apple and Google respectively, have natural language processing abilities that let them understand your voice commands or questions and provide immediate actions or replies based on available data, from web services and apps.
- IBM has developed an advanced computing system called Watson, named after the company's legendary founder, that has natural language processing, hypothesis generation, and dynamic learning abilities. Besides defeating two former Jeopardy champions, it is now being utilized in creating a cluster of cognitive apps that can be used to solve real world problems, through an application programming interface (API), provided by IBM.

Everything has advantages and disadvantages. And Artificial Intelligence is not an exception.
- ProsAI can be utilized in the completion of repetitive and time-consuming tasks efficiently. Intelligent machines can be employed to do certain dangerous tasks. Machines equipped with artificial intelligence can be made to thoughtfully plan towards the fulfillment of tasks and accordingly adjust their parameters such as their speed and time. They can be made to act quickly, unaffected by anything like emotion and take the tasks towards perfection.
- Cons The first concern regarding the application of artificial intelligence is about ethics and moral values. Is it ethically correct to create replicas of human beings? Do our moral values allow us to recreate intelligence? Intelligence is after all a gift of nature. It may not be right to install it into a machine to make it work for our benefit. The idea of machines replacing human beings sounds wonderful. It appears to save us from all the pain. But is it really such an exciting idea? Concepts such as wholeheartedness and dedication in work bear no existence in the world of artificial intelligence.
There is a fear of robots superseding us! Ideally human beings should continue being the masters of machines. If things turn the other way round, the world will turn into chaos. Intelligent machines may prove to be smarter than us; they might enslave us and start ruling the world. Man's greedy creativity may endanger mankind!
While mankind has already made amazing strides into the field of artificial intelligence, there's much more to come in the future...
Personal View of Artificial Intelligence
I was not lying when I said that I'm curious about "artificial intelligence". As a youth of this generation and as a scholar of a science and technology-oriented school, I want to know more about those advance technologies.
I was truly amazed when we watched a video about Watson. Come to think of it, how can a machine won against two undefeated and very intelligent persons? But hey! It's not just a simple machine that talks. It's WATSON- an artificially intelligent computer system capable of answering questions posed in natural language. No doubt, I really am in the 21st century- from apes to humans. And wait, did I forget to mention those artificially intelligent robots?
Oh no, no, no! There is no way they will join the Human evolution, ever! We humans are given the power to lead and rule the world, not those robots. We let ourselves be the one to control our own lives, not the ones who has artificial intelligence. And we don't let our own creations decide for our own future, but it's us who do so!
Having Artificial Intelligence has both positive and negative sides. We must just know that it is used only for good. And it's bad effects will be out of the picture. No more fear of it ruling over us in the future. For now, let's just look at the good things it had done and will do for us.
Artificial Intelligence really is amazing. If there's only no idea of AI controlling the whole world, then the statement will just be "Artificial intelligence is awesome." Period. End of story. But we have those innovative mind. And AI is a product of that. AI shows how clever and creative we people are. Even how genius those robots are, humans are irreplaceable. They might be smarter than us but thinking machines lack a creative mind, we beat them by that. Human beings are emotional intellectuals. We think and feel. Our feelings guide our thoughts. And that's just one of the hundreds (and counting) reasons why:
